Whale Watching + Oqaatsut

Combine whale watching in Disko Bay with a visit to the small settlement of Oqaatsut – a journey combining wildlife, spectacular Arctic scenery and everyday life in Greenland.

We leave Ilulissat and head north through Disko Bay towards Oqaatsut. Along the way, we keep a constant lookout for whales. Humpback whales are often seen around Ilulissat during the summer, and when whales appear, we are flexible and take the opportunity to enjoy the encounter.

Nature decides what happens. No two trips are exactly the same. Icebergs move, whales appear where they choose, and weather and sea conditions shape each journey.

In Oqaatsut, we spend approximately 1 hour experiencing the atmosphere of this small Greenlandic settlement. Your local guide shares stories about settlement life, fishing and hunting traditions, culture and everyday life in Greenland.

After our visit, we return by boat to Ilulissat while continuing to watch for whales, icebergs and wildlife along the way.

For larger groups, the tour can be arranged together with trusted local boat operators.

Whales are wild animals and sightings cannot be guaranteed.

If whales or other interesting wildlife appear during the journey, we are flexible and may adjust the route when possible to make the most of the experience.

The route and programme may also be adjusted according to weather, sea and ice conditions. The captain always makes the final decision regarding navigation and safety.

Guests should wear warm clothing, including during summer.
