Icefjord + Whale Watching

Experience two of Ilulissat’s greatest natural attractions on one boat tour: the spectacular Ilulissat Icefjord and the whales that visit Disko Bay during the summer.

We head directly out from Ilulissat into the waters around the Icefjord, where enormous icebergs drift from one of the world’s most active glaciers. No two trips are ever the same. The ice moves, the light changes, and the conditions in Disko Bay create a new experience every day.

During whale season, we keep a constant lookout for whales. Humpback whales are frequently seen around Ilulissat, and when whales appear, we are flexible. We slow down, change course when appropriate and allow time to enjoy the encounter – always with respect for the animals and at the captain’s discretion.

This is not just a sightseeing cruise.

Along the way, your local captain and guide shares stories about the Icefjord, the ice, wildlife, Ilulissat and everyday life in Greenland.

Whale sightings depend on nature and can never be guaranteed.

The tour is operated according to weather, sea and ice conditions. The captain always makes the final decision regarding safety and the route.

Good to know

Dress warmly, even on sunny summer days. Temperatures on the water can be considerably colder than in town.

Wildlife is wild. We cannot guarantee whale sightings, but when whales are present, we will make the most of the opportunity.

Please meet 15 minutes before departure at the pontoon by the whale jawbones at Tankeeraq Tankstation / the harbour.

Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed.

The exact route depends on ice, weather, wildlife activity and safety conditions.

Online booking normally closes 24 hours before departure. Last-minute requests are welcome by phone or WhatsApp.
