Whale Watching in Disko Bay

Join a local captain for a 2.5-hour whale watching experience in Disko Bay.

Humpback whales are regular summer visitors to the waters around Ilulissat, but they are wild animals and their location changes from day to day.

Sometimes we find whales quickly. On other days we need more time to search. That is why the experience is scheduled for 2.5 hours.

We use local knowledge, current conditions and wildlife reports to search respectfully while also enjoying the icebergs and Arctic landscape around Ilulissat.

When whales are present, we approach carefully and give the animals space.

Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed.

Departures: 14:00 and 18:00
Season: 15 May – 1 October
Minimum: 3 paying guests

Children

Children aged 6–14 pay half price.
Children under 6 are free but must be registered.

Larger groups

Our own boat accommodates up to 6 guests. Larger groups can be arranged with trusted local boat operators while keeping the experience personal in smaller boats.

Practical information

Please meet 15 minutes before departure at the pontoon by the whale jawbones at Tankeeraq Tankstation / the harbour.

The route depends on wildlife activity, ice, weather and safety conditions.

Whale sightings and other wildlife encounters cannot be guaranteed.

Online booking normally closes 24 hours before departure. Last-minute requests are welcome by phone or WhatsApp.
